Meet Victor – Workaround’s New Chief Product Officer

It’s a new year and the beginning of an exciting new era for product at Workaround as we welcome our new CPO, Victor Gyllenberg!

If there’s one thing Victor has always had, it’s vision. Growing up in Stockholm with tech professionals as parents, Victor was steeped early in IT and the internet but he saw himself doing something entirely different. Instead of following footsteps into the tech world, he went off to music school, learning countless instruments, and playing in bands. After school, he found himself organizing music festivals, starting clubs, and managing tours for other musicians and comedians — he emerged with a full picture of the industry. But he couldn’t quite escape his tech pedigree, more and more he found himself developing websites for fellow musicians. As word of his skills got out, he built a web agency to keep up with demand.

Seeking new challenges, Victor next took a role at a rapidly scaling company in sunny Malta working on SEO. As his team grew from just him to 15 others, he naturally fell into a leadership role. An opportunity to spread his wings into product appeared and he moved into a Product Owner position. The role allowed him to hone his vision and embrace a lean approach of develop, launch, learn, iterate, launch again.

We are excited to see him put his abilities to use to help Workaround take our platform to the next level.

What made you want to join Workaround?

–The business idea is very cool – it’s something I myself would want to use for my own company. As a work environment, the vibe is great. Everybody works hard and is very good at what they do, yet the vibe remains chill. We all have the same vision — we want this to grow — and everyone is hungry and eager to help out in whichever way they can to make that happen, whether or not a given task is part of their official job description. We all will do whatever it takes to contribute to the mission.

What are you fired up to accomplish?

–The first big project is to launch the new Workaround platform, working closely with [Workaround CTO] Michael. My part is more on the user side to help figure out the best journey for our customers. We want to release something as soon as we can.

–I am really excited about how we can scale up. There are parts of our current process that we can easily automate to make things more efficient for ourselves and our customers. At the same time, some of our manual process is hands-on, which makes us more like a friend to our customers. It’s important to keep that relationship, but that isn’t easy to scale. I am working on figuring out the best way to do this, which is a fun challenge. We’ll take it piece by piece and see where we end up tomorrow, next week, and next month.

What is your vision for Workaround?

–To help build the community. Workaround should be a friend — a friend who gives you help when you need it. It should more than just a place where you go to find the perfect office, you also get to be part of the whole Workaround community. I want to build that.
